Verify the sender independently. Check the domain, business registration, official website and established contact channels. Do not use phone numbers or links supplied only within the suspicious message.

Red flags include upfront fees for guaranteed deals, requests for login codes, payment by unusual methods, secrecy, pressure, inconsistent names and checks followed by refund requests. Confirm any payment before sending money or completing costly work.

Preserve evidence and report suspected fraud through appropriate platforms or authorities. If personal or financial information was exposed, act promptly to secure accounts.
