Once an athlete is legally an adult, the athlete generally controls access to private contracts, financial information and professional relationships. Family support remains valuable, but access should be granted intentionally rather than assumed.

Ask the athlete what help feels useful. They may want a parent present for meetings, copied on deadlines or available as a second set of eyes. They may also reserve certain decisions for themselves and their chosen advisors.

Document any authorized access within the platform and revisit it regularly. Respecting boundaries strengthens trust and helps the athlete build decision-making skills.

Protect their opportunity. Prepare for their future.
