International-athlete NIL questions may depend on visa classification, where services are performed and whether activity is considered active work. Families should not generalize from another athlete’s approval.

Coordinate with the university international office and qualified immigration counsel. Separately evaluate tax residency, withholding, reporting and the practical movement of funds across borders.

Document the guidance received and the facts provided. If a proposed activity changes, ask whether the prior guidance still applies.
